In the electric and gas dryers lint call accumulate in the system and plug the ductwork, creating a fire hazard. Clogged ductwork will also increase the drying time. Install the exhaust duct and elbows as instructed in the Exhausting Installation section of this chapter.
Exhaust duct locating dimensions Note: All dimensions are taken from the bottom of the dryer base. Add the length of the leveling legs, after leveling, to these dimensions and prior to cutting the hole.
Gas Dryer Supply Line Installation
Do not attempt to alter tile dryer gas orifice or adjust the burner air shutter. Natural gas input may vary in some areas from 700 to 1200 Blu per cubic foot. If the gas dryer orifice or the burner air shutter is incorrectly adjusted, serious personal injury author fire hazard can occur. The local gas company will know the qualities of the gas in your area. Perform any dryer adjustments with caution, making certain that they are correct.
Do not use an open name for dryer leak-testing gas piping. Serious personal injury or a fire hazard can result if an open flame is used to test for gas leaks. Use a soap and water solution to test all dryer gas line fittings.
Danger: Do not install a dryer to an LP gas supply without installing a conversion kit. All dryers are shipped out of the factory with a pressure regulator and a natural gas orifice. Using a natural gas orifice with in LP gas supply can result in personal injury, clothes damage, and/or fire hazard. Be sure to properly install a dryer gas conversion kit when the dryer is to be used with LP gas.
1. A plugged tapping, accessible for gauge connections, must be installed immediately to the gas supply connection to the dryer.
2. Connect pipe front the gas supply line to the 2-inch pipe located, in the back of the dryer. Apply an approved thread scalar and resistant to the corrosive action of dryer LP gases on all connections.
3. Leak-test all gas line connections that were during the installation of the dryer
Note: Individual shutoff valve can be disconnected from the gas supply piping system for any pressure testing. This is to protect the dryer valve and other components from damage.
Dryer Exhausting Installation
The following are specific dryer installations for manufactured homes:
1. The dryer must be exhausted to the outside and grounded to the floor.
2. The exhaust must not be terminated beneath a manufactured home.
3. The exhaust material must not be hazard dangerous
4. The exhaust duct must not be connected to any dryer duct, vent, chimney, veiling, or any concealed space manufactured (mobile) home.
5. The installation must conform to the current Home Construction and Safety Standard, or when such standard is not applicable, with the American National Standard
